Dress Up Drab Concrete Walls With Coat Of Colorful Stucco
Stucco is a surface coating made of Portland cement, sand and sometimes a plasticizing agent like lime. Stucco is also known as Portland cement plaster. Because stucco can be colored with mortar colorants and textured with a variety of tools, it is an ideal medium for dressing up a drab concrete block wall. It also can be applied to a wooden surface provided that building felt and wire mesh are mounted to the substrate beforehand.
Stucco adds charm and curb appeal to exteriors, not only masks minor imperfections, it's also a versatile decorative surface. It can be tinted or shaped into textures -- smooth or stippled, marbled or spattered. It can be applied as smooth as glass, scored to look like stone or troweled in fanciful patterns such as seashells.
